Embattled Brooklyn Democratic Party boss Clarence Norman had a gift wrapped and waiting for a Brooklyn district attorney candidate - but the recipient doesn't want it.
Norman, also an assemblyman, told attendees of his annual fund-raiser at a swanky Mill Basin country club last Thursday night to vote for "fabulous" state Sen. John Sampson (D-East Flatbush).
"The time has come in Brooklyn to get us a new district attorney," said Norman, who is under indictment by Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes for allegedly misusing public funds.
He also called Sampson, one of four major challengers hoping to unseat Hynes, a coalition builder and "one of our own."
But Sampson, who expressed surprise at Norman's comments and denied knowing about his speech, vowed he wouldn't accept the Democratic leader's endorsement.
"I have not sat with Norman for an endorsement for the reasons you know," Sampson told the Daily News, referring to Norman's current legal woes.
