Dem rebels launch low-budget slate

A group of insurgent candidates are mounting spirited, low-budget campaigns against Brooklyn's Democratic organization.
The loose coalition calls itself The People's Ticket and includes candidates for judgeships and slots on the Democratic State Committee, as well as for state Assembly and Senate.
Leading the efforts is Sandra Roper, a vocal challenger for the 43rd District Assembly seat held by the chairman of the Kings County Democratic Committee, Clarence Norman.
"Our Democrats in Brooklyn are not doing what they're supposed to do," Roper told a crowd of about 50 supporters outside the state courthouse yesterday. "Who do they represent? Not us. It's time for a change."
