Roper Sues State Court System, DA Hynes Over Selective Prosecution, Wrongful Termination

ADAMS STREET Alleging first amendment violations that cost her a job as a court attorney and deprived her of her right to run for office, civil rights attorney and current Civil Court candidate Sandra Roper today filed a federal lawsuit against Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes and the New York State Unified Court System.
The suit is designed to compensate her for wrongful termination, said Roper s attorney, Ezra Glaser. Roper s suit also seeks unspecified damages for civil rights violations stemming from what she claims was an unwarranted criminal prosecution against her.
She was investigated in the middle of a campaign, Glaser said. Ultimately she lost her job because she ran against DA Joe Hynes.
