THE VOICE OF THE VOICELESS
INTRODUCES
THE TRIAL OF MUMIA ABU JAMAL
AND
VOICES
December 9, 1981, the night our voices were silenced, is fast approaching its twenty-fourth anniversary. To welcome its 25th silver crowning moment should be too much for mankind to accept.
August 29, 2005, our sense of compassion and humanity was challenged and almost swept away by a mass storm of dishonesty and disloyalty. Ask yourselves, How much longer can our voices be left unheard?
We hope to have you stand beside us as we utilize this so-called power structure s very own read my lips truth to the we re better off now lie to expose the real sorry state of affairs, which continue to affect our human race.
Whether you agree or disagree we encourage and welcome you to come as you are and join our forum December 1-4 2005 as we introduce two thought provoking stage-plays entitled, The Trial of Mumia Abu Jamal and Voices.
The Trial , is best described as a play within a play, which turns into a debate. An interesting way of storytelling which depicts the story of former Black Panther, radio journalist Mumia Abu Jamal who was sentenced to death in Pennsylvania in 1982 for the shooting death of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. In this innovative production we re-create and examine the evidence from actual documented court transcripts and allow both sides to be heard through riveting passionate performances.
Voices relies on humor to examine the boldness of hypocrisy within our society through a community talk show host, a conservative politician, a liberal advocate and a radical activist. Unbeknownst to our representative they unwittingly expose their obvious flawed beliefs on today s topics armed with misinformation, faulty data and a biased opinion in a feeble attempt to sway the audience to their side .
We anticipate and welcome your mature thoughts and opinions after each evening performance with a question and answer period. After all this is a free country...isn t it?
