The friends of Sandra E Roper Wish to make this statement to be known by all
We expect that FREE SANDRA ROPER signs will soon be attached to the DUMP HYNES signs.
New York State bar's grievance committee in 2002 found no merit to this case. It is useful to know that for a variety of reasons, neighborhood lawyers get reported to the Discipline Committee on a regular basis. The review of the Bar Association Discipline Committee is a thorough and exhaustive one. In fact, many good neighborhood lawyers have left practice over what they consider the unfair and unconscionable rigidity of the governing group. Because of these harsh standards, it is rare to find any attorney being subjected to prosecution after being exonerated by the lawyers' Discipline Committee. Sandra Roper has never taken any moneys from any body especially seniors citizens or women.
Early in 2001 Mary Lee Ward spoke of how great Sandra Roper was to many local News television programs helping save her home from predatory lenders Mary Lee Ward signed mortgage agreements with. Mary Lee Ward possible has not settled with yet.
78-year-old Mary Lee Ward a former actress trying for an Oscar spends a lot of time in courtrooms, usually cast as a repeat litigant. Ward had been the victim of "predatory lending" by a major bank, and went to Roper at the point when she was about to be evicted and lose her house. No one else would come to her aid not even the Brooklyn D.A. Charles "Joe" Hynes. Roper states that Ward agreed to pay her $8,000 and sign a retainer for what ended up being more than $40,000 of work on a time-consuming trial. At the time, Ward ran into trouble maybe tens of thousands of New Yorkers were similar victims of "legal" predatory lending. Ward lost at trial, but her eviction was post-poned indefinitely. Roper agreed to represent Ward pro bono only at the appeal. The Roper appeal was a historic one, which contributed to current legislation, which eliminates the worst of previous predatory lending.
In early 2001 Sandra Roper decided with the eager support of many friends to put an end to political justice to run for district attorney.
Mary Lee Ward turned Roper's bitter accuser with her sights on Sandra Roper late in September, and with the help of D.A. Joe Hynes a special prosecutor was appointed in the matter. In testifying before the grand jury, a weeping Ward stated that Roper wanted to have her murdered, according to transcripts. Ward, a devout Jehovah's Witness, later told the Times that Roper was "like Judas Iscariot.
As for today February 28, 2005 we see who came out of the courts with the money
" Sandra never has spoken ill against any one in the many many years know and love her. Not even against bad doe doe bird drivers in Brooklyn
Falsely charged with pilfering $8,000 to $9,000 in retainer fees from a former client, Roper, 48, believes (As well of her many supporters) the case against her is a set-up framed, payback for having previously challenged Brooklyn D.A. Charles "Joe" Hynes,
Since 1997, Ward has filed at least 13 civil suits and 4 criminal complaints against contractors, trucking companies, landowners and, especially, lawyers. In 2005 alone she has no less than 50 cases in the court system under many different names. Seen as M Lee Ward, Mary L Ward etc. Awarded many non-taxable claims for mental hard ship or distress. Just when and why Ward took this matter to the DA's office is uncertain. An Assistant District Attorney testified at the trial that Ward walked into the DA's Complaint room in August 2001. The Daily News reports it was September 2001. But to the amazement of both defense and prosecution, Ward apparently testified at trial that she never went to the District Attorney until December 2002.
Whom is to know the truth in this? The blatant and dramatic inconsistency between the testimony of the Brooklyn ADA's and Mary Ward's testimony clearly renders the woman's testimony unreliable. Ward's long record of submitting frivolous complaints, and the fact that she concealed from the Brooklyn ADA that she had already filed a complaint against Roper also raises a question of the woman's integrity.
She once swore out an apparently spurious assault complaint against one of her own tenants, but the case was dismissed. (Today the tenant, since moved, lives in fear of Ward as do many of her neighbors), Ward has made almost identical complaints against at least four other separate attorneys. As for the forgery and larceny allegations against all four but none was taken seriously by either Brooklyn prosecutors or the New York State bar's grievance committee.
A record class action settlement was made for many seniors citizens home owners with Sandra Ropers expert help Predatory Lenders were not able to take any homes.
At the help of Office of Attorney General Eliot Spitzer the Predatory Lenders was forced to pay more than 12 million Dollars. Mary Lee Ward was sure 12 or more million dollars of that was to be just for her.
Roper's first trial in the case ended in a hung jury last November 9 to 3 in Roper's favor and Roper was hopeful of the outcome when her retrial starts on Feb. 28. "This false indictment was orchestrated by Joe Hynes to keep me out of the District Attorney race in 2005," said Roper. "I didn't bow to the oppression in 2001, I won't bow to it EVER. If she wins, she'll be the second female district attorney ever to be elected in the history of the five counties. With what Martha Steward would say, would be a good thing . The first was Brooklynite Liz Holzman, who left office in 1989 when Joe Hynes took over her seat. An 8/3/1 decision in favor of Roper leases little or no possibility of a future conviction. A retrial would be an absolute waste of public funds. There would be no excuse for a retrial except pure malice and harassment. Roper was fired from her job, had her reputation besmirched, and had to find money to pay for an expensive trial. Although it might have been a conflict of interest for Joe Hynes to prosecute this matter, there is never a conflict of interest for anyone, including the DA to step up to the plate and speak out for justice.
I know that Satan and his people are busy," Ward said in a phone interview. "But there's a judgment day coming for each and every one of us. And the truth will be known and justice will prevail."
The many loyal FRIENDS and Church Brothers and Sisters know of Sandra Roper and are sure who will be sitting closest to the heat.
