Web site's owner: Why ban just me? |

Jersey City City Hall borrowed a page out of the Chinese government's playbook when it restricted employees' access to a local Internet message board known for its anonymous, biting commentary on the administration.
Mayoral aide Dominick Pandalfo said City Hall blocked access to the Web site getnj.com more than three months ago after he consulted with Mayor Jerramiah
Healy, who along with members of his administration are often targets of the Internet pundits.
The restriction was limited to getnj.com and was not extended to other sites like NJ.com, which officials say deletes "inappropriate" material. NJ.com and The Jersey Journal are both owned by Advance Publications.
"It's just anonymous garbage and political gossip," said Pandalfo. "It didn't have anything to do with productivity, it was about the content."
The site, registered to Jersey City resident Anthony Olszewski, features a Hudson County political forum, where users can select odd nicknames.
One message posted on getnj.com Monday by the fictitious "you bet he can" featured a headline, "Can Porky Pig (U.S. Senator Bob) Menendez Be Bought."
Olszewski did not return phone calls.
